Functional Movement

Last weekend Dr. Wieder and I took a very interesting seminar of “Functional Movement Screen” (FMS). It consists of 7 different moves to determine the stability and mobility of various parts of the human anatomy.

The individual is tested and scored for each task. If pain is present it is treated. If the person in unable to do the task or does it with poor form, various exercises and stretches are prescribed to rectify the weakness.

These tests show structural weaknesses, limitations and asymmetries from the left side to the right side of the body. It is an accurate predictor of the body of potential injuries.

FMS is being used by professional teams and even fire departments to screen  individuals to determine if they are physically prepared to take on the stress required to perform their sport or duties.

Functional Movement Screen will help determine the weak link in a person’s movement.
